A journalist digs deep into the underworld of the holy Iranian city of Mashhad as she investigates the murders of several sex workers.
The killings are carried out by the so-called Spider Killer, who believes he is cleansing the city of sinners.
This is the third feature film by Iranian-born Ali Abbasi. His previous film Border was a major success at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. Holy Spider competed for the Palme d’Or in the main competition at Cannes in 2022. Lead actress Zar Amir Ebrahimi won the award for Best Actress.
