Pix on Art at Dansens Hus

Film + dance = Powerful impressions, visual experiences, and new perspectives.

Welcome to feature films and documentaries focusing on dance as narrative, ageism, and queerness.

Once again, Oslo Pix Film Festival and Dansens Hus invite you to a dance film program at Dansens Hus.

This year’s program is divided into two parts:

Wednesday, August 27
We’ll screen the two feature films Toxic and They Will Be Dust, both of which use dance and choreography as tools for storytelling and narrative construction.

Between the films, there will be a panel discussion exploring the relationship between dance and film—narrative and effect. The conversation will address dance as a storytelling device in feature films and cinematic techniques in performing arts, dance, and choreography.

Thursday, August 28
We’ll screen the two documentaries Vika! and Becoming Madonna—cinematic portraits of two strong female figures at different stages in life and career. Though they have lived very different lives, both have used their careers to break with conventions surrounding aging, sexuality, and the idea of freedom.
