Jazz pianist Bill Evans is paralysed by grief when one of his band members dies.
It is 1961 in New York City. Legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans has put together the perfect trio, consisting of himself, Paul Motian on drums and Scott LaFaro on bass. A short time after the recording of what would become two of the most critically acclaimed live albums ever – Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby – LaFaro dies in a car accident. Evans is paralysed by grief and stops playing.
EVERYBODY DIGS BILL EVANS is a beautiful artist portrait with Anders Danielsen Lie in the role of Evans. The film premiered at the Berlinale, where director Grant Gee won the Best Director award.
