Raven's End
A promising young writer lives in a bleak working-class block at the end of the 1930s in Bo Widerberg’s classic from 1963.
Anders lives with an overworked mother and an alcoholic father. When a publisher shows interest in his manuscript but dismisses it as inarticulate, he is pushed to the breaking point. Raven’s End is social realism about the Swedish working class, portrayed with rare honesty. The film remains one of Widerberg’s most politically powerful works.
The film is screened at the Cinematheque in Oslo, who has a retrospective of the films of Widerberg.
