Funny Face
Stanley Donen's musical classic is a study of what it means to be a «follower,» as it humorously examines fashion media, the fashion industry, and philosophy.
"Funny Face" plays with common assumptions about reality and surface, turning the traditional hierarchy between philosophy and fashion on its head, while mocking both disciplines. This brilliant musical depicts how an American fashion photographer (Fred Astaire) and a leading fashion editor (modeled after Diana Vreeland and Richard Avedon) transform a bookworm, played by Audrey Hepburn, into the most successful fashion model by taking her to Paris. The costumes in the film are designed by Hubert de Givenchy and Edith Head.
