Voice
At the film workshop VOICE in Groruddalen, young people are taught how to make short films for social media about things they are interested in. An established filmmaker has taken notice of the workshop, and visits them to make a documentary about them. Soon she encounters resistance and demands for participation. What right does she have as an outsider to tell their story?
Voice is a film about young people and the media. At the film workshop, the kids are taught how to express themselves through simple tools. The workshop is managed in an unconventional way by activists Dawit, Sara and Juan. Everyone is meant to participate and create something together. The experienced filmmaker Rhea, who visits them to make a film about the workshop, has a more traditional approach to documentary filmmaking. It does not take long before the young filmmakers start to question if she is the right person to tell their story.
