Dansens Hus X Pix on Art
This year's program is split into two parts and shows how body, movement, and cinematic storytelling address (self) staging, the power of definition, identity, and tradition.
Tuesday, August 25
- 18.00 – THE PATRON (1h 40min)
- 20.00 – THE MOMENT (1h 42min)
- After screening: Dance party
Tuesday 25.08 explores (self-)staging and how we as humans create versions of ourselves, both in everyday life and on stage. The Swedish thriller THE PATRON and the meta-documentary THE MOMENT show how a con artist (swindler) and a pop artist (Charli xcx) operate in environments and situations where control over persona, image and the theatrical is pushed to the extreme. Following the screening of Charli xcx's cinematic caricature, Dansens Hus and Oslo Pix invite you to a dance party.
Wednesday, August 26
- 18.00 – AANIKOOBIJIGAN [ANCESTOR/GREAT-GRANDPARENT/GREAT-GRANDCHILD] (1h 20min)
- Between the films: Conversation TBA
- 21.00 – POWWOW PEOPLE (1h 28min)
Wednesday 26.08 features two documentary films that in different ways tell the story of how North American indigenous history and traditions remain present in the world, both on others' and their own terms. The films AANIKOOBIJIGAN [ANCESTOR/GREAT-GRANDPARENT/GREAT-GRANDCHILD] and POWWOW PEOPLE are a tribute to tradition and rituals, but also a critique of the Western art world's fixation on objects and its understanding of time and space, dance and music.
