Artificial intelligence is changing how we make, tell and understand stories. In CREATE + RUN THE CODE, Oslo Pix explores how AI affects film – both as subject matter and as a creative tool.
The three films in the section show very different sides of this development. GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE uses AI as the starting point for a satirical tale about technology, screen addiction and the belief that artificial intelligence will solve the problems of the future. DRACULA lets an AI chatbot become part of the creative process itself, exploring what happens when artificial intelligence is allowed to take part in making art. In MEMORY OF PRINCESS MUMBI, AI becomes a tool that makes it possible to create a futuristic world with resources that would otherwise be out of reach for a low-budget production.
What happens to film when the machine can be subject, co-creator and production tool all at once? And what does it mean for creativity, originality and who is really telling the stories?
All the films are introduced by Gjermund Eriksen, with different perspectives on AI, film and the technological development that is already changing the way we make and watch film.
