Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was an unmanageable ogre named SHREK. He lived in a swamp far, far away.
SHREK is a loner who is happiest on his own, but one day his precious solitude is invaded by irritating fairytale characters.
There are blind mice in his food, a big bad wolf in his bed, three little pigs and many more, all banished from their homes by the wicked Lord Farquaad. Determined to save their homes — and not least his own – SHREK makes a deal with Farquaad. So he sets off to rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona, who is to become Farquaad's bride.
Along the way he meets a hugely good-humoured donkey who has also been chased from home. The donkey is willing to do ANYTHING for SHREK, except... keep quiet! Rescuing the princess from a big, fire-breathing dragon turns out to be the least of his problems when the princess reveals her deep, dark secret.
