In Håvard Bustnes’ documentary about the Fosen case, Sámi reindeer herders win a case in the Supreme Court of Norway against Europe’s largest wind power developers. But the Norwegian state refuses to take action.
The film is in Norwegian with Norwegian subtitles.
Before the case was concluded in the Supreme Court of Norway, Norwegian authorities approved the construction of 151 wind turbines at Fosen. When the verdict was delivered, it was established that the development violated the human rights of the Sámi population in the area. The landscape was drastically altered, and the basis for reindeer herding disappeared. Despite this, the government chose to side with the companies and refused to remove the wind turbines. LA FJELLA LEVE is a compelling documentary that follows the protests and legal battles surrounding the Fosen case.
