Two truckers fall in love, but with different routes, it becomes difficult to take a chance on a relationship.

Truck driver Étienne lives a routine-bound life in France. He drives through the same towns and always stops at the same rest areas. On a cruising trip in the woods, he meets Bartosz, a Polish immigrant who is also a truck driver. They hit it off, and a relationship develops from there. Étienne works for a company with proper labour conditions. Bartosz works for a company that exploits its employees, and he's sent on long routes for low pay. They keep driving in opposite directions, making it hard to find time for each other.

FLESH AND FUEL is a low-key, romantic film about a relationship that develops between routines in a busy everyday life. In a refreshing way, it also avoids telling a «coming out» story. They both have supportive families, and their sexuality is entirely unproblematic. The challenges they face stem from work, class, and Bartosz's immigrant status.

The film premiered at Critics' Week in Cannes earlier this year, where it won the Queer Palm Revelation award for best queer debut film.
