Master Class // Cecilie Semec
Cecilie Semec was in 2025 awarded the Edith Carlmar Award – both for her work with Dag Johan Haugerus's trilogy SEX-DREAMS-LOVE, and for her work as cinematographer.
«Through the winner’s dynamic and varied cinematography, intimate and nuanced portraits of the films’ searching characters are created – along with a new perspective on Oslo. Her camera gives us new images of the city’s streets, forest, and fjord, turning everyday ferries and houses into magic.»
Semec moves seamlessly between film and visual art, and has collaborated with some of Norway’s most influential directors and artists. Her films have been screened in Venice, Berlin, and Cannes.
On Thursday, 28.08 at Cinemateket in Oslo, we invite you to a masterclass with Cecilie Semec – an in-depth professional exploration of the images, perspective, and methods of a cinematographer.
The conversation will be moderated by filmmaker Ellen Ugelstad and is organized in collaboration with the Norwegian Society of Cinematographers.
