Nick Cave’s longtime bandmate Warren Ellis runs a wildlife sanctuary for endangered animals in Sumatra — while simultaneously experimenting with sound for synth and electric violin.

This is a different side of Warren Ellis than most people know – the musician with the long beard and the electric violin. At a wildlife sanctuary deep in the jungle of the Indonesian island, he works with a small team to rescue and rehabilitate trafficked animals. Director Justin Kurzel paints a portrait of an uncompromising musician – and a life far removed from the stage.
