The New Museum
How much French classical painting must make way for new Sámi art? Should the design of the trash bins be approved by the architect? And when is gray slate too gray?
The New Museum is an observational documentary about the many negotiations, discussions, and compromises required to realize a national showcase for art, architecture, and design. Over several years, Birgitte Sigmundstad follows the construction of the new National Museum. The result is an intimate and often entertaining film about ideals, budgets, and the need to keep everyone at least somewhat satisfied.
