This year's work-in-progress delves into the process of the two upcoming films UTGRAVNINGER by Ingrid Liavaag and SAMLIV by Even Grimsgaard. Welcome to a conversation with the directors and a screening of clips.

This event will be in Norwegian.

About Utgravninger by Ingrid Liavaag:

The documentary "Excavations" is an in-depth exploration of the female body as a group of gynecologists treat patients at a regional hospital in Norway. Through observational filming, we better understand a profession where patients' lives and deaths, high pressure, long shifts, and new technology are part of everyday life. By focusing on those who work in the gynecology department, Norwegian women's health is put under a microscopic lens.

About Samliv by Even Grimsgaard:

The film explores the brutal and complex relationship between humans and nature. The global nature crisis is escalating, and there is little trust that nature will be able to take care of itself in the future. Nature is no longer the steady and stable force we used to associate it with. It is dependent and entirely reliant on the brutal care of humans. The film showcases management work in forests across Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. We follow people working under state nature management, imitating the forest's natural damage and disturbances. They tear down, cut, blast, and burn the forest. The forest is made into something more natural, wilder, and rougher through brutal force.
