A drama about the friendship between a directionless man and a young filmmaker and about life on the fringes of society in today's USA.

Through video blogs recorded on his phone, Alvaro documents the lives of marginalized groups in the country. The recordings are interspersed with conversations with his best friend, Chris, a filmmaker played by Christopher Abbott. Director Josh Mond made his breakthrough with the critically acclaimed James White. In his second film, he has created an ambitious hybrid between documentary and fiction, painting an intimate portrait of life on the fringes of society. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

«What grounds the film’s conceits in human traits are the committed performances by the actors who gamely enact the spontaneity of human life. It Doesn’t Matter in large part is also a meditation on the codes of masculinity, the privileges and pitfalls inherent therein, and Jay Will is able to paint the arc of Alvaro’s emotional maturation in credible terms.»
