An act of infidelity takes an aging couple down an unknown path in this amusing yet grounded Finnish drama about polyamory.

Juulia is a prestigious politician and enjoys a pleasant home life with her pastor husband Matias and their son. Enni is Matias' secret lover, but that is about to change. Juulia is shattered when she learns the truth, but faced with her husband's betrayal, she makes a choice for them: They should keep going. All three of them. And three? That may well become four now that the rules have changed.

Four Little Adults is an unusual family drama, a fresh portrayal of polyamory that considers both the ups and downs, the simple joys, and the discomforting complexities. Professional and personal lives crash, jealousy lurks beneath the surface, but writer-director Selma Vilhunen handles it all with an earnest interest in her characters and their feelings.

«Four Little Adults is the child of a cinema that has the measure of things, that tackles today's problems with lightness and depth and that manages to maintain a certain brilliance without the desire to overdo it. Honest cinema, if cinema should be honest – this is no small feat.»
— Roberto Oggiano, Cineuropa –
