Dogborn
A struggling pair of twins find themselves pulled between their own safety and morality in this evocative thriller, set in the criminal underground of a Swedish city.
A homeless pair of twins roam the city streets, desperately seeking for a job. She (played by Silvana Imam) is a firecracker fuelled by anger, fists clenched and ready to explode any moment. He barely opens his mouth, keeping his emotions locked in. Willing to do anything to stay alive, they ask their criminal cousin for help. When the twins receive an offer to work as couriers, luck finally seems to be headed their way, but the goods weigh far heavier on them than they could have ever prepared for.
Isabella Carbonell makes her feature debut as the writer-director of this dark thriller. Dogborn is stylish, morbid and fast-paced, but with a quietly evocative melancholy running through its veins.
«The modest running time limits the scope to delve deeper into the characters or the subject matter, but this is still a tightly focused, pulsing tale of conscience and conflict. […] There is a real dimension to a tense tale that confirms Carbonell as a talent to watch.»
