Special screening of GRITT in Sofienberg Church

On Thursday 27.08 there will be a unique screening of GRITT followed by a panel talk about Gritt as a religious figure.

What happens when we read Gritt as a religious figure? In this panel talk we explore the spiritual and mythical layers of the film's singular universe. Taking Gritt's uncompromising search for meaning, community and a language for that which cannot be placed as its starting point, the conversation moves through themes such as exclusion within the cultural field, the city and loneliness, the forest as sanctuary, the witch and Lilith as counter-figures, and the power of ritual as a path towards belonging. The talk invites new perspectives on one of Norwegian cinema's most distinctive characters, and on the longing for the sacred in a secular age.

In the talk you will meet the film's director, Itonje Søimer Guttormsen, theologian, feminist and author Gyrid Gunnes, and actor Marte Wexelsen Goksøyr.

About the film

Gritt, who once went by Gry-Jeanette, went straight from drama school to Hollywood, but soon hit a wall and changed course. Seventeen roaming years later, she is back in Oslo.

The event is a collaboration between director Itonje Søimer Guttormsen, Oslo Pix Filmfestival and Sofienbergprosjektet.
