What does it mean to be a volunteer during the Oslo Pix Film Festival?
As a volunteer, we want you to commit to working between 15-20 hours during the festival. Oslo Pix lasts for 7 days, so you will have time to watch lots of good films! After completing the work, you will receive a certificate documenting your efforts.
What benefits do I get as a volunteer?
All volunteers receive five free tickets and, in addition, the opportunity to see a film if there are free seats in the cinema at the start of the movie. You will be invited to a kick-off/gathering before the festival where we will talk about the program and get to know each other. As a volunteer during the Oslo Pix Film Festival, you get to meet many exciting people, you gain useful work experience and insight into what it's like to make a film festival.
Here are the different tasks you will help with as a volunteer:
As a volunteer, you are the front face of the festival. You will work in the festival's information stands at Ringen cinema and Vega Scene. You must be able to answer practical questions related to the festival, inspire the visitors and ensure the visibility and availability of the information at the festival's display locations. You will also be given various practical tasks related to the screenings and the festival area, such as administration of tickets, distribution of accreditation to guests, help with clearing and entry. As a cinema host, you will be helpful at check-in and assist with Q&As and discussions around the movies. You are service minded, tidy and prepared for both hectic and quiet working periods. It's not a requirement, but a bonus if you're comfortable holding an intro to a screening.
In addition to this, you will also contribute to the practical implementation of events both before and during the festival - such as parties, special screenings, talks, receptions and outdoor viewings. You will contribute and be responsible for rigging, serving, guarding, purchasing and other practical tasks required - with a common goal of creating a good festival atmosphere for the audience!
Runner
We also need people who can patrol between the different viewings and events. The tasks may vary after what is needed on the specific day; handing out popcorn, talking to the audience, or transporting an object from A to B. Are you outgoing, have good sneakers and like to be on the move? Then this job is right for you!
Before and after the festival
We also need people to help with setting up and taking down the festival - both at our screening locations such as Vega Scene, Ringen Kino and in Grünerløkka. It’s a plus if you can be available the weekend before opening, but it may also be relevant to work the days after. It is an advantage if you enjoy physical and creative work. In addition, we also need some volunteers for our student viewing on Friday the 23rd, when we have an outdoor event in collaboration with SiO.
We hope you want to join us in creating the best Oslo Pix Film Festival!
