Marte Vold
Marte Vold (b. 1978 in Tromsø, Norway) was educated at Nordland College of Art and Film in Lofoten (2001), Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2005) and the Norwegian Film School, from which she graduated as a cinematographer in 2008. Rooted in visual art as well as traditional filmmaking, Vold's work as a director and cinematographer has been screened in both galleries and film venues around the world.
In 2015, she took part in CPH:DOX's talent development programme CPH:LAB, leading to the feature documentary LETTERS (2018), which she co-directed with Jero Yun. LETTERS screened in competition at the Gothenburg Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival and the Jean Rouch International Film Festival, where it won the Prix du patrimoine culturel immatériel.
Her short TOTEM, which she produced and directed, was screened at New Directors/New Films at MoMA in 2016.
Vold's work as a cinematographer includes WILD RELATIVES (2018) and FORAGERS (2022) by Jumana Manna, both screened at multiple film festivals and exhibited at MoMA in 2022; HIM by Guro Bruusgaard; and VOICE by Ane Hjort Guttu.
Marte is currently working as director and cinematographer on her feature documentary project THE WHALERS. CIVIL TWILIGHT, a feature film based on Vold's series of shorts, is scheduled for release in 2027. Vold currently lives and works in Oslo, Norway.
