Linda Bournane Engelberth
Linda Bournane Engelberth (b. 1977) is a Norwegian-Algerian visual artist working with photography, installation, and film. She spent several years in Mexico, where she picked up the camera as an artistic tool, before returning to Norway and establishing herself as an artist with a broad practice, and has received several awards and prizes for her work.
Her artistic focus is on communicating personal stories with socio-political frameworks or gender discourse, such as her well-known project OUTSIDE THE BINARY (2018–2023). As a film director, she currently collaborates with producer Elisa Fernanda Pirir, and her first short film, NEVER LOOK BACK (2022), was screened at twelve international film festivals already in 2022.
She has had a number of solo exhibitions since 2009 and has participated in group exhibitions at a number of major institutions, such as Die Haus der Photographie/Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, Fotogalerie Vienna, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, and Bomuldsfabriken in Arendal. Since 2015 she has taught at Bilder Nordic School of Photography and Kristiania. She is represented by VII Photo.
