A minimalist and very funny film from Iceland's master director, Hlynur Pálmason.

In the beautiful countryside along Iceland's eastern coast, two young boys start digging a hole. When the hole is deep enough, their older sister helps to build a knightlike figure and places it in the hole. Now they have something to practice their bow-and-arrow skills on. The sister baptises the knight Joan of Arc, and they riddle her with arrows. The camera remains static throughout the film, focusing on Joan of Arc as Iceland passes through its various beautiful seasons.

As in his previous film, THE LOVE THAT REMAINS, director Hlynur Pálmason uses his own children in the main roles. The film is a gorgeous depiction of the passing of time.
