At night, João is haunted by Liberada’s ghost, who is not pleased with the direction the film is taking. From there, Two Times João Liberada unfolds into a metafilm about queer historiography. Director Paula Tomás Marques blurs the lines between fiction and reality in a formally captivating debut.
