Protests, Quran burnings, and climate actions. In the eye of the storm stands a group of Swedish police officers. Their mission is to protect freedom of expression – with dialogue as their only tool.
After the Gothenburg riots in 2001, Sweden established the Dialogue Police – a unit designed to de-escalate conflict through conversation rather than force. In Dialogpolisen, director Susanna Edwards follows the group through a year marked by election campaigns, climate protests, Quran burnings, and growing political tension. A nuanced – and often funny – documentary about freedom of speech and conflict – and about those caught in the middle.
