I Saw the TV Glow
In an American suburb sometime in the 90s, two teenagers find each other through a shared obsession with the supernatural teen series «The Pink Opaque.»
Owen is a cautious teenager struggling to come out of his shell. When he meets Maddy, an older, cooler girl, he is introduced to the sci-fi series «The Pink Opaque,» a show that intensely resonates with Owen. One day, the series is canceled, and the world turns upside down for the two teens. I Saw the TV Glow is a hypnotic and beautiful film about nostalgia and how our unresolved identity crises are projected onto the popular culture we love.
«With “I Saw The TV Glow,” their follow-up to the Internet-dwelling, horror-laced character study “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair,” writer-director Jane Schoenbrun, a singular Millennial artmaker, has rendered an entrancing, richly stylized trans masterpiece.»
