Birkelunden

A life-affirming documentary about the greatest rebels in Norwegian film history: Wam and Vennerød.

The groundbreaking filmmakers Svend Wam and Petter Vennerød pushed the boundaries of what Norwegian cinema could allow in terms of sharp social criticism, innovative diversity, and unabashed nudity. Iconic quotes from their films live on in popular culture today, such as "Snurp igjen smella di, du maser jo som et lokomotiv!" ("Shut your mouth, you're nagging like a locomotive!").

In The Last Movie, Petter Vennerød wants to take the audience on one final cinematic journey, but time is of the essence. He has been diagnosed with Parkinson's, and Petter has limited time before words and thoughts fade away. With help from his wife Karianne, he openly shares his experiences with the disease. At the same time, he reflects on a long career as a filmmaker who "kicked in all directions" while fighting for those on the fringes.
