Dansens Hus

A young dancer, her choreographer and a psychotheraphist are pulled into a supernatural conspiracy in this take on Dario Argento’s horror classic, directed by Luca Guadagnino.

1977, West Berlin. Shortly after the disappearance of a young woman at Markos Dance Academy, Susie Bannion enrolls. Her skills as a dancer are remarkable, but something lurks beneath the surface. The ancient secrets of the academy are about to be revealed. To remake a genre hallmark like Argento’s Suspiria is akin to blasphemy, so it is a great relief that this is not really a remake. With a political edge and a greater focus on dance itself, this adaptation has an identity of its own. With its haunting score by Thom Yorke of Radiohead fame and dance sequences choreographed by Damien Jalet and Olivia Ancona, Guadagnino’s Suspiria is a spellbinding deep dive into the occult.

«A long, deliriously filmic, primal banshee-howl of macabre imagination that leaves us hormonal and drunk on that lovely delusion: the beautiful, thrilling, lurid lie of cinema.»
