Ringen 3

This year's nominee for the Nordic Council Film Prize from Iceland.

Jon has promised his mother that he will ensure she is buried in her hometown. When she passes away, this leads to a road trip of the rarest kind. Instead of placing her in a coffin, he prepares her body and places his mother in the back seat of the car. He fulfills her last wish and drives around Iceland with his deceased mother in the back seat. But despite her being deceased, she pesters Jon with constant nagging. This is Icelandic gallows humor at its best. «Driving Mum» is a cinematic gem set in 1980, offering a melancholic look back at Icelandic history. It's a classic road movie with absurd humor and enchanting Icelandic landscapes.
