Step
Step follows a group of American teenagers at an all girl’s high school in Baltimore. In particular, it follows three of the girls as they work to achieve their biggest goals: to win a step dancing competition, and to qualify for a college education. With this life-affirming and highly entertaining documentary, director Amanda Lipitz succeeds in providing a positive perspective on contemporary American life in a poor, urban district. The film has won awards in several festivals, including Sundance and the AFI Docs Festival.
