Join us on a hallucinatory journey into the fragile mind of a young girl, in this expressive and unsettling cinematic work. Mentally unstable teenager Madeline acts in an experimental drama group, which serves as a break from her everyday life with a neurotically worried mother (portrayed by artist Miranda July). The charismatic leader of the drama group, Evangeline, encourages Madeline to embrace her own frustrations and allow herself to become immersed in them – but the artistic process goes a few steps too far, and Madeline’s grip on reality begins to get somewhat slippery.

It is impossible to rlook away from the trance-like performance of young Helene Howard, which is only intensified by the radical and experimental approach of indie director Jaqueline Decker. Madeline’s Madeline is a hypnotic experience for those who like to be challenged by unusual movie aesthetics.
