LATE SHIFT // When Care Meets the Limits of the System

The numbers are alarming. Norway is facing a major healthcare staffing crisis – by 2035, we may be short as many as 28,000 nurses, according to Statistics Norway. At the same time, one in five nursing shifts today is either unmanned or covered by staff with lower qualifications.

Following the screening of LATE SHIFT, we invite you to a panel hosted by the Tankesmien Agenda. The film depicts a reality where compassion and a sense of responsibility collide with a healthcare system in constant deficit. How should we address the challenges in an already strained system?

Is the solution higher salaries or greater freedom? And what happens to professional pride and caregiving when tasks must be carried out ever more efficiently?

The conversation will be held in Norwegian.

About the Film

Nurse Floria works in a ward where both staff and resources are constantly in short supply. With warmth and a strong sense of responsibility, she moves from bed to bed, offering patients and their loved ones the care they need. But the tasks keep piling up, and the evening shift becomes a race against time.
