FLOPHOUSE AMERICA // Norwegian Premiere & Panel
The screening of FLOPHOUSE AMERICA in Klingenberg 1 on Wednesday 27.08 marks the film’s Norwegian premiere.
After the film, there will be a conversation with director Monica Strømdahl, followed by a panel discussion.
The film depicts poverty and substance abuse issues in the United States through an intimate portrait of Mikal, who lives with his family in a so-called «flophouse» — a budget hotel where many low-income families in the U.S. reside permanently. Using the film as a starting point, the panel will discuss childhood conditions for children in families with substance abuse in Norway, and which structures can help break negative social patterns.
Panel Participants
- Anne Kristine Bergem, Psychiatrist
- Monica Strømdahl, Director of FLOPHOUSE AMERICA
- Kristin Oudmayer, Secretary General of the organisation Barn av Rusmisbrukere
- Moderator – Bente Roalsvig, Fritt Ord
