Finally, we can introduce the very first Oslo Pix’ programme, presenting aspiring directors, established auteurs, international guests, screening in a fish rack, film talks, silent cinema and much more.
Films, addressing heart and soul, challenging and entertaining, enthusing the audience and thought-provoking – you will find all of that in our festival programme. From a balcony in Bjølsen to the Tuscan countryside, from Southern Missouri to a snow-covered Russia in the North.
Rina Mariann Hansen, city council for culture in Oslo, is holding the official opening ceremony of the very first edition of the Oslo Pix festival on June 8th, prior to the Norwegian premiere of Ole Giæver’s Fra balkongen.

Oslo Grand Pix award
Nine feature films are in the run for the Oslo Grand Pix Fiction Award, collecting some of the best and most unique contemporary films. The winner will receive 75,000 NOK (about 8000 EUR).

The winner of the festival’s award for best documentary, Grand Pix Documentary, will receive 50,000 NOK (about 5300 EUR).

Norwegian Premieres
Charlotte Røhder Tvedt’s Mellom oss is Norway’s first documentary based on sent-in material and will be celebrating it’s world premiere at the festival. Patrik Syversen, whom also directed the Universal produced movie Dragonheart: Battle for the Heartfire, and director of the NRK series Unge Lovende, will be premiering his in-house production Demon Box. In addition, there will be concert screenings of Kim Hiothøy’s documentary jewel Ad Astra, accompanied live by Hiorthøy himself on synthesizer.

International guests at Oslo Pix
The festival will host a number of directors from Europe and North America. The Danish movie Rivalene starring the Norwegian actors Jakob Oftebro and Ane Dahl Torp, is celebrating its Norwegian premiere during the festival, and director Charlotte Sieling will be visiting Oslo Pix, also teaching a Master Class. Sieling’s work includes directing popular Danish and American series like Broen, Forbrytelsen, The Americans and Homeland.
From the Nordic countries the festival are welcoming the Icelandic director Erlingur Thoroddsen and his thriller Rift. Crotian-Swedish director Ivica Zubak is contributing to the festival with the tragicomedy Måste gitt, a film feeling the pulse of the Swedish immigrant society, while Mats Ågren is joining the festival in the section Oslo Pix Young with Miranda: En politiker blir till. The Swedish director Johan Löfstedt is joining the illustrious guestlist with probably one of the most original films in the programme, the hybrid movie Småstad.
Furthermore, Polish director Kasia Adamik will present her Eco-thriller Spoor, which she directed in collaboration with her mother, Agnieszka Holland. Also from Poland, Anna Zamecka is debuting with Communion, also being nominated in the category, Oslo Grand Pix Documentary. Another nominee in the same category is the Danish documentary Dem vi var by Sine Skibsholt, who also will be visiting the festival.
Anne Zohra Berrached joins Oslo Pix with 24 uker, also running for the Golden Bear at the Berlinale last year and winning a number of prizes at international festivals. From the US the festival will be welcoming Sabaah Folayan and her movie Whose Streets?.
