Palme d'Or winner FJORD ends this year's festival
FJORD will be the closing film of the ninth edition of Oslo Pix Filmfestival at the end of August.
It was another strong year for Norwegian film at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, with the Palme d'Or going to the Norwegian co-production FJORD, directed by Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu and starring Oscar-nominated actors Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan in the lead roles.
It has now been confirmed that the Palme d'Or winner will also close this year's Oslo Pix Filmfestival, taking place 24–30.08, with director Cristian Mungiu visiting the festival for the screening.
Throughout the festival week, Oslo Pix Filmfestival will invite audiences to major film experiences, screening over 100 films alongside a range of events across the capital.

FJORD is a timely, gripping, and thought-provoking family drama exploring cultural differences and the fragile boundaries between private life and institutional power.
The film follows a Norwegian-Romanian family who move from Romania to a small town in Norway. The family of five quickly connects with the local congregation and with neighbours who have children of similar ages. When the school suspects that the parents (played by Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan) are physically punishing their children, action is taken.
The film is directed by internationally acclaimed director Cristian Mungiu, who won the Palme d'Or in 2007 for 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS.
