The ninth edition of Oslo Pix Film Festival takes place from 24.08 to 30.08.26, and we’re looking for dedicated volunteers who want to help create a film celebration with us! Below, you can read more about what it means to be a volunteer at the festival.
What does it mean to be a volunteer at Oslo Pix Film Festival?
As a volunteer, we expect you to commit to working between 15 and 20 hours during the festival. The festival lasts 7 days, so you’ll still have time to watch many great films. After completing your work, you can receive a certificate documenting your contribution.
What benefits do I get as a volunteer?
All volunteers receive five complimentary tickets, in addition to the opportunity to watch films if there are available seats at the start of a screening. You will be invited to a kick-off gathering before the festival, where we’ll introduce the programme and get to know each other. As a volunteer at Oslo Pix Film Festival, you’ll meet many interesting people, gain valuable work experience, and get insight into how a film festival is organised.
Volunteer roles
Cinema and event host
As a volunteer, you are the festival’s public face in meeting the audience. You will work at the festival’s info desks at Vega Scene, Cinemateket, and Klingenberg. You should be able to answer practical questions about the festival, inspire visitors, and ensure visibility and accessible information at the festival venues.
You will also take on various practical tasks related to screenings and the festival area. This includes ticket handling, distributing accreditations to guests, and assisting with cleaning and audience entry. While working at the cinemas, you should be available to assist with Q&As and film talks. It is not required, but it is a bonus if you are comfortable introducing films. You are service-minded, organised, and prepared for both busy and quieter periods.
As a volunteer, you will also take part in the practical execution of events during the festival—such as parties, special screenings, talks, receptions, and outdoor cinema. You’ll help with setup, serving, security, shopping, and other practical tasks—all with the shared goal of creating a great festival atmosphere for the audience.
Runner
We also need people who can move between screening and event locations. Tasks will vary depending on needs: handing out popcorn, speaking with the audience, or transporting items from A to B. You’ll be there to help with whatever is needed that day. You must be flexible, have good running shoes or a bike, and enjoy being on the move.
Before and after the festival – setup and programme distribution
We also need volunteers to help with the setup, decoration, and distribution of the printed programme ahead of the festival. This will take place both at our venues and around the city. Ideally, you are available the weekend before the opening, but you can also help distribute the programme in the weeks leading up to the festival. Here, you can find a day that suits you. It’s an advantage if you enjoy physical and creative work.
There may also be events and occasions after the festival where we need volunteers.
