SENTIMENTAL VALUE opens Oslo Film Festival

The Cannes Grand Prix winner, Joachim Trier’s SENTIMENTAL VALUE, will open Oslo Pix Film Festival with a grand screening at Klingenberg Cinema on Monday, 25.08.

The film, starring an all-star cast of Renate Reinsve, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgård, and Elle Fanning, received a 19-minute standing ovation at its world premiere in Cannes. It will be screened for the first time in Norway during Oslo Pix Film Festival.

Trier’s Oslo at St. Hanshaugen

As a lead-up to the Norwegian premiere, all residents of Oslo will have the opportunity to watch Trier’s Oslo Trilogy at St. Hanshaugen. On Friday, August 22, REPRISE will be shown; on Saturday, August 23, THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD; and on Sunday, August 24, OSLO, AUGUST 31st.

«Joachim Trier is one of Norway’s most important directors and has tremendous international impact. That Trier continues to make films in Oslo is something we should truly cherish and highlight – for both the art of cinema and the love of Oslo. For Oslo Pix Film Festival, it’s a major event to host the Norwegian premiere of SENTIMENTAL VALUE, and we are proud to invite audiences to experience the film here first after its Cannes success.»

Says an enthusiastic Head of Programming, Johanne Svendsen Rognlien.

Tickets for SENTIMENTAL VALUE go on sale on 07.08, alongside the full festival program launch.

Theatrical release in September

The film is produced by Mer Film and Eye Eye Pictures, will premiere in Norwegian cinemas on 12.09, and is distributed by Nordisk Film Distribusjon.

Producer Maria Ekerhovd (Mer Film) says:

«We are incredibly happy to present SENTIMENTAL VALUE for the first time in Norway at Oslo Pix. It truly feels like the film is coming home to Oslo, where it was made and where the story takes place. We're also thrilled that all of Oslo is invited to Trier’s Oslo through outdoor screenings at St. Hanshaugen. I personally look forward to watching all the films in succession!»

Oslo Municipality has supported the outdoor cinema at St. Hanshaugen, making it possible for the city's residents to experience Trier’s Oslo universe entirely free, under the open sky, at the beautiful park stage in the heart of the park.

«Joachim Trier offers a unique and recognizable portrait of Oslo – poignant, beautiful, and intimate. That the city's residents now get to experience these films outdoors at St. Hanshaugen is a brilliant example of how Oslo Municipality’s urban life grants can be used to make art and culture accessible to all. A lovely finale to a ‘Joachim Trier Summer’ in the city,»

Says Commissioner for Culture, Anita Leirvik North (H).
