Maïwenn

Maïwenn (born in 1976) is a French-Algerian actress and filmmaker. She began her acting career in the 1980s and has appeared in numerous films. As a director and screenwriter, she embarked on her career with Pardonnez-moi in 2006, in which she also played the lead role. The film was well-received by critics and nominated for two César Awards. Since then, she has directed Le bal des actrices (2009), Polisse (2011), My King (2015), and DNA (2020). Her films have won several awards and have been showcased at major international film festivals, including the prestigious main competition at Cannes. Her latest film, Jeanne du Barry (2023), was the opening film at Cannes this year.
