Peter Hujar was an American photographer known for his black-and-white portraits of members of the LGBTQ+ community in New York’s East Village during the 1970s and ’80s. Based on audio recordings from a single day in the photographer’s life, the conversation between Hujar and writer Linda Rosenkrantz is brought to life. Director Ira Sachs, whose most recent work was the critically acclaimed Passages, blends documentary and fiction in a quiet chamber piece about creativity and solitude.
