In The Betrayal (2011), Norwegian director Karen Winther revealed her own role in the conflict between anti-fascists and neo-Nazis in Norway in the 1990s. Now she returns with Exit, a new personal cinematic journey where she tries to find out what actually makes violent extremists renounce violence and hatred and start a new life. The film lets us meet with people in Germany, France, Denmark and the U.S., and also sees Karen face the truth about her own past. What opportunities exist for people who try to exit violent extremist communities?
