Based on a novel by Bocelli himself, the film follows Amos Bardi, a young man who resembles the famous singer in every aspect: He is born with an impairment on his sight and turns blind at a young age. However, he has a great voice. But when Amos meets the singing coach “Maestro”, played by Antonio Banderas, he understands that it takes more than talent to become a great singer. He must also listen within himself, and if necessary give himself over to silence, in order to find his true voice.
Andrea Bocelli: The Music of Silence is a traditional story about an untraditional artist. It is a film about overcoming great obstacles to reach one’s goals, and a film that dears to speak about love, passion and art in broad strokes. Michael Radford (f. 1946) is a British director and scriptwriter. He studied film at the National Film and Television School. In addition to Il Postino, he is known for his film version of George Orwells 1984 (1984) as well as the period drama White Mischief (1987).
