Stray Bullets
For all future, Jack Fessenden’s achievements will include having written, directed, edited and starred in his first feature film at the startling young age of 16. With the help of his father, veteran producer Larry Fessenden (also the cinematographer of the film), he has made this accomplished hostage action drama, filled with tension, firefights and moments of sheer beauty. The plot of Stray Bullets is simple and efficient: Teenagers Ash and Connor are bored out of their minds in a small town on the American East Coast. To make things worse they are forced to clean out a trailer for Ash’s dad. At the same time, three robbers are running from a crime scene nearby, and one of them is severely hurt in the backseat of the car. They hide out in the trailer, which marks a sudden end to Ash and Connor’s boredom. An impressive and entertaining first feature from a talent worth keeping an eye on. CF
